Strength & Conditioning

Strength & Conditioning is an integral part of any person’s rehabilitation journey, helping to increase physical capacity and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Physical capacity can be defined as a person’s ability to efficiently perform tasks and their ability to perform said tasks before injury occurs.

Increasing an individual’s physical capacity has been recognised as a protective factor against musculoskeletal symptoms, as well as aiding recovery when pain is present. While strength & conditioning can help build physical capacity it has also shown to increase stability, coordination, mobility, strength, agility, endurance and speed. Exercise programs may include a mixture of:
  • Weighted exercises
  • Body weight exercises
  • Resistance training
  • Plyometrics

At Proactive Health & Sports all strength & conditioning programs begin with a thorough assessment to get a baseline of your current strength levels. Programs are then tailored to suit your needs, whether that is to recover from an injury, run a few minutes faster around the bay or increase your overall strength. Once certain strength milestones are met the program will progress, challenging the muscles to further increase strength and physical capacity.
